Floating Labs
All aboard! Join us for a morning at sea as we explore the ecology of Avila Bay aboard a 55 foot sportfishing vessel.
- Time: 9:45am (check-in) | 10:00am – 12:00pm (lab)
- Meeting location: 9:45am at the base of the Port San Luis Pier (free parking is available in the boat yard parking lot)
- Program cost: $45 per passenger (student or adult)
- Boat capacity: 30
- Children under 45lbs are required to wear a life vest. You may bring your own or use one provided by staff.
What to Bring:
- Small personal bags and water are permitted on board.
- Sun protection (hats, sunscreen, sunglasses, etc.)
- Warm clothing for chilly mornings.
- Motion sickness medication (~1 hour before departure), if prone to seasickness.
Please note:
Tickets will be sold on a first come, first serve basis. A minimum of 17 passengers are required for this program.
The safety of students, staff, and crew members is our topmost priority. Programs may be postponed due to unforeseen weather circumstances. In the event that a lab cannot be rescheduled, a full refund will be provided.
