Garibaldi

Garibaldi, the California State Marine Fish, once difficult to spot, now fills our kelp forests with their beautiful bright color. This territorial species will guard their nest year round, picking up and removing anything that comes into their space. The male Garibaldi, keeps its nest neat to await for the female to choose the cleanest nest and then mate with. The Garibaldi is a great representation of how legal protection can help a species overcome extinction.
