Rockfish

There are over 100 species of rockfish worldwide with a majority being off the California coast. They are often distinguished by their different shapes, size, color, or DNA. All rockfish have venomous spines that are primarily on their dorsal fins and used for defense against predators. The most common species often found off our coast are Copper Rockfish, Gopher Rockfish, Black Rockfish, and Blue Rockfish.
